I think you bring up very valid points. For a lot of ppl who have stayed away from family/extended family for so long, they may not like the constant interference.
"I miss my parents" is not quantifiable but what about the paying back the debt by supporting your aging parents? Let me make the question a little broader, isn't every immigrant divided between doing what's best for the children and supporting the parents?
for some it is money, for others it is about taking care of parents etc.
for me it is all about where I would like to live, grow and bring up my child. to me the answer is very clear. while this country is not perfect, no country on this planet is. if a human makes an objective list based on quantifiable pros and cons, the decision is very easy to make.
as for stuff like "I miss my parents" that is not quantifiable and should never figure in the discussion. what is the guarantee that you can return to your home country and live in the same city as you parents do? what happens if your kids don't want the grandparents to interfere in their lives? what happens if you cannot take constant interference from friends and extended family?
my reasons may come across as cold and calculating. however, it is an inhospitable world we live in and it is up to us to provide the best possible cocoon for our immediate family and that is exactly what I intend to do.

Pardon my intrusion here! I searched various forums but I couldn't get any solid threads on visa number because it is so common term the search always yields wrong threads! so can some one tell me..what is a visa number after filing 485? is it same a A # ? or is there another number besides A#? Do we see it on 485 reciept? if not how do I find out? I
They have preassigned Visa numbers to cases that were pending in USCIS(NOT the ones filed in JUNE)...even though the PD was not current according to June Visa Bulletein... Eg: COnsider your approval and mine..We filed for 485 in 2004.. These cases are preadjudicated and just waiting for Visa number to become avilable..Once the july bulletein came into effect(or according to rumor even before) they assigned visa numbers to all pre approved cases that were pending...AGAIN USCIS DID NOT ASSIGN VISA NUMBERS TO CASES FILED IN JUNE

Both me and My wife were really impressed by the excellent work IV has done and achieved. I have made a contribution (albeit small) in the past, and will very much like to sign up for recurring contributions. We pledge to contribute $50 monthly as soon as my Wife gets her EAD. We were intending to signup for $20/month right away, to upgrade to $50/month on getting her EAD but I do not see that option anymore.
Anyways, my pledge still stands effective on the day we receive my wife's EAD.

I think its the right time to get in touch with the USINPAC. Not only USINPAC but all communities who ever have pacts with US government should start getting involved.

First of all EAD is not a status. You need to provide them details on whether you are on H1B or AOS / Parolee (if used AP to travel or EAD to work).
Hope this helps.

Not to forget the people stuck in backlog centers.
I was stuck in backlog center.
Recently my company converted from Non-RIR to RIR and I got it approved
in a few months. In parallel, I had my labor approved via PERM too as a safety net, just in case dates become current.
I would personally suggest to change your case to RIR if it is not so and there
is no harm in getting PERM approval as well.

Ive been here 4 and a half years. PD of dec 06 Im 25 from australia. I didnt intend on staying, but fell in love with NY ater 3 years.. I have elderly parents, and nieces and nephews i have missed growing up, however i keep in touch by phone regularly, and try to visit every year. I know I want to stay here for at least the next 10 years. After that .. i dont know..
Im in a serious relationship with a US citizen, however I want my greencard before we take the plunge. I dont want any doubts on us taking the next step. I may have to leave in August as my L1B is expiring, and she is in grad school working towards a PHD, so her having to come home with me would put a massive hault in her life. so frustrating.. My brother went through a very similar thing in Australia with his italian girlfriend before they got married 7 years ago.
i just hope congress do something soon..

I am just a reader of IV but this article made me to reply and below are my thoughts regarding the PM
> This might take atleast 6 months to get signoff (IF aproved by everyone)
> This will impact only the I-140 that are still pending approval
> I assume people who recently applied (mostly in past 1 year) for I140 has to go through this process. So this filters lot of people who applied for GC's longitme back.
> Mine i140 is already approved so I think i wil not be impacted
> Also this is applicable for "Exceptional Ability" only (I did a search the entire PDF and not find anything that talked about advacned degree)
> So every one who has masters degree in US will be considerd as Advanced degree and will not be impacted (See this article http://www.callyourlawyers.com/pdfcaselaw/eb2memo.pdf[/url] Note: This is not officially release d by USCSIS)
> I looked at my I140 approval and it clearly says "Advance Degree or Exceptional Ability". I have Master degree from a Sate Universtiy so I think I am covered
> So if anyone whose application is still penidng they might want to confirm with their attorney to see if it said "Advance Degree or Exceptional Ability" OR "Advance Degree and Exceptional Ability" OR "Advance Degree" OR "Exceptional Ability"
> If "or" i think you shold be ok as you can opt for advacned degree. However "Exceptional Ability" might have to show proof "IF" they do not get approval by the time this memo goes live ( I mean if this gets approved)
> I am pretty sure most of them wil have advanced degree but just to make you might want to confirm with your attorney
Thanks

I checked with IV core and few attorneys regarding this issue. You will need the consent of the employer since we are dealing with I-140 petition. Please speak to your HR and try convincing them to support you. We are not asking USCIS to expedite our cases. All we are asking is follow the FIFO and process cases in an orderly manner.

As per the tracking no. given by my lawyer, my app also received at 7.55 AM on July 2nd, signed by R.Williams , but my check not cashed yet, no receipts yet, what a mess....
I know a friend whose application was recieved at 10:45 AM on July 2nd at NSC, he got the receipt number in July III week, our application was received at 8:26 AM on july 2nd, nothing till date, checks haven't been cashed...no updates!!
So dunno how they are picking the applications, anyways there is good news that they are working on the July 2nd applications, and more & more of us are receiving the receipts numbers.:)

IV Core, please help members like us whose applications are pending at the Atlanta PERM Processing Center. In spite of officials informing that they will reassign their staff to process PERM applications a month back, there seems to be no progress so far. Please help us get out of this mess as our applications have been pending at this center for few months now. We would like to take this opportunity to apply for the next two stages while PD are current. By the way, I had an old case at BEC and got an approval. I just changed my job and reapplied through PERM, and then all of a sudden PD became current. I have been in this mess for 5 years now. It was just an unfortunate timing of my job change that screwed me up.
People from Chicago center have been getting quick approvals and are able to submit their I-140 & I-485 documents right away. But just because we live & work in the East coast, we are getting screwed. I don't think this is fair on part of DOL to penalize us because of our location. IV Core, please, help us.
What help can IV provide us with?
They have nothing to do with this mess in Atlanta Center
