What we are trying to achieve is not easy. If you are involved more closely with IV leadership - you will understand the hardships being faced at every stage.
Issues can only be resolved if we are a strong voice, and thats what we all want to be. It takes time and we have to be patient. We are in a lot better shape than we were sometime back.

As far as I know the amendment is still a part of the Defense bill.
Sen Cornyn introduced it as an amendment to another bill on 19th (I dont remember the bill) in addition to the Defense bill and strictly speaking the motion to attach the amendment was rejected on the basis that it did not belong in that particular bill and not the amendment.
Texas Members - Would it possible to find out if Sen. Cornyn is planning to introduce the amendment again later this year?
Clearly, he has to work with Sen.Dick Durbin to gain support among the Democrats.

By the way, since when 100's of students mean a couple of folks? So far I have taught about 100 such students. And I and my colleagues have been observing problems with such students for over last 5 years or more (about 1000 students). These are not anomalies, rather statistically significant observations.
And, by the way, (almost) all these students join Indian consulting companies after graduation, which means (at least those) consulting companies care nothing about the quality of the employees. Banning H1-B access to such consulting companies will be of desirable, indeed.

It does not make a difference to America, if a few hundred thousand foreign workers get their GCs today or 10 years later. The people America would really be concerned about are outstanding researchers, but then these people fall in the EB1 category which is always current and so they have no cause for complaint. The other category that the US is concerned about is cheap and illegal labor, but that is not related to GCs. So in short, there is nothing about the Eb2/Eb3 GC backlog that America needs to worry about.
The delay causes anxiety & frustration only for us applicants. So the impact is only on us.

But again, the thing to know about this stimulus package/rebate is that this is not FREE money; it is merely an advance on your 2008 tax return. Remember that and think twice before you spend it foolishly. Better still, send it to IV, contribute to an IRA or fund your kid's 529 plan.

Taxpayers won't have to pay back the rebate, however, if using their 2008 income would result in a lower rebate amount.
In any case, whether it is free money or not, the fact remains that some of the best ways to spend it is by sending it to IV, contributing to an IRA or funding your kid's 529 plan.

I dont get it for EB3 India. First they said once we get over the APR 01 hump we should be move quicker. Well guess what we DID get over that hump. Why the heck arent the dates moving at all for us?

What is a politician?
Politician is a contaminated breed of Human species. Here's the difference.
When a common man see the problem, he tries to make a resolution and tries to make a permanent solution helping everyone.
Now what does a politician do.. he see a problem and think how can he pretend to get a resolution while trying to make use of the problem for his political advantage hurting everyone and even hurting who were not effected by that problem and then use the same cycle to resolve the residual problems of the so called "solution" for his gains.. and this goes on and on and on.
Moreover the worst part of the story is no matter where you go in this world, you will find this weed growing everywhere and there is no weed control chemicals to kill them and surprisingly common man is a fertilizer to grow it.

I think they advanced the dates to 2006 not to approve the cases but to collect new applications with the new fees.They approved couple of cases only to show that they r working on old cases (2006 which is old for them or however they interpret).

There are lot of good/standard consulting companies ... Some are 'con' but they can't create massive impact , however the MNC's do MANIPULATION at a large scale.
I believe that small companies have a big impact too. As someone mentioned, check to see which companies filed GCs in the last 10 years....Infy, TCS or Small body shops?
